Emory University Student Heatlh and Counseling Services
Emory University Student Health Services (EUSHS) provides outpatient care
for enrolled Emory students with a valid Emory ID card. Spouses, Domestic Partners
and unmarried children over 12 years of age are also eligible for primary medical
care by appointment on a fee-for-service basis. EUSHS is located at 1525 Clifton
Road (1st & 2nd floors). For more detailed information, visit our website

The Emory University Student Counseling Center is located at 217 Cox Hall
on the central Emory campus and provides outpatient counseling and mental health
services to enrolled Emory students. For more detailed information, please

Hours:
During Fall and Spring Semesters, Student Health Services is open weekdays
from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and most Saturday mornings from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
During Summer Session and Winter and Spring Break, EUSHS is open weekdays only
from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. To schedule appointments, students should call 404-727-7551
(press 1). During the Summer, students who are not enrolled, but who have paid
the Emory student activity fee, may be seen at EUSHS without fee-for-service
charges. Continuing students who are not enrolled for the Summer, or students
who just graduated, may be seen on a fee-for-service basis.
The Emory University Student Counseling Center is open Monday through Friday
from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and sees students on an appointment basis. To schedule
appointments, students should call 404-727-7450.
Medical and Health Education Services:
The EUSHS team is comprised of physicians, psychiatrists, physician assistants,
nurse practitioners, counselors, nurses, health educators and administrative
staff. EUSHS offers the following services to enrolled Emory students:
- Allergy injections & immunizations
- Anonymous HIV & STD testing
- Gynecology, family planning & colposcopy
- Health education programs & presentations
- International travel clinic & immunizations
- Laboratory testing
- Nutrition counseling and education
- Physical examinations
- Primary health care
- Referrals to specialists
- Substance abuse counseling & referrals
Mental Health and Counseling Services:
A wide range of outpatient mental health services are provided for enrolled
Emory University students by licensed psychiatrists, psychologists and social
workers. There are no charges for counseling or psychiatry sessions at the
Emory University Student Counseling Center/EUSHS. However, when referrals
are made to clinics or therapists outside the Emory Student Counseling Center/EUSHS
system, expenses for those visits shall be the responsibility of the student.

schedule an appointment.
Emergencies and After Hours Care:
EUSHS is not an emergency facility. For life threatening emergencies, please
call 911 or the Emory Police at (404) 727-6111 or 7-6111 (direct dial on campus)
for assistance in obtaining emergency help rapidly. Students needing to speak
to the on-call physician after-hours about an urgent medical problem or concern
should call (404) 727-7551 (press 0) to have the paging operator page the on-call
physician. The Emory University Hospital Emergency Room can be reached by calling
(404) 712-7100.
Fees:
Except as otherwise noted below, Emory tuition covers office visits provided
by Student Health Services and Counseling Center healthcare providers. Charges
for the following services are not covered by tuition and must be paid for
by the student:
- Hospitalization
- Laboratory tests and X-rays
- Consultations with non-EUSHS physicians
- Injections, including allergy shots
- Travel consultations
- Medical procedures
- Physical examinations
- Anonymous HIV and STD testing
- Medications and medical supplies
Payment is due at the time of service. Cash, checks, EmoryCard, Visa and MasterCard
are accepted. Students are primarily and completely responsible for all fees
incurred, regardless of insurance coverage. Student Health Services will file
insurance claims to a student's insurance plan. However, at the end of 90 days,
all unpaid charges are transmitted to the Bursar to be included on the student's
central account. The Bursar will bill for any unpaid charges. If a student's
account becomes past due, the Bursar may cause the withholding of transcripts,
grades, registration or other University provided services or goods until all
past due amounts are paid.
Insurance:
All students are strongly encouraged to have health insurance and some Emory
colleges/schools require their students to have health insurance. Also, students
and parents should be aware that some insurance policies will not cover services
provided by EUSHS, nor do they provide adequate coverage for care received
in Atlanta. Students are strongly encouraged to review their health insurance
coverage and know any special requirements and provisions of their plan, such
as pre-existing condition limitations or exclusions, pre-admission certification,
medical benefits and prescription coverage.
