Special Services

exterior of Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA

Interpreter Services

It is vital that you be able to communicate with your health care team. Please ask your nurse to arrange for an interpreter if English is not your primary language. For the hearing impaired, TDDs/TTYs, hearing aid-compatible phones and signing services are available.

Pain Consultation

Every patient is concerned about pain and how to control it. Your health care team will talk to you regularly about whether you are in pain and provide information on pain relief options.

Palliative care is a medical specialty that focuses on the relief of the pain, symptoms and stress associated with serious illnesses. If you would like to learn more about palliative care, please ask your doctor or nurse or call (404) 778-7777.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is available to you 24 hours a day. If you or a family member would like to visit with the chaplain or another religious leader, such as a priest, rabbi or imam, please call the Chaplain's Office at (404) 686-2408 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. At other times, ask the operator to page the chaplain on call.

Our hospital’s Pastoral Services Office and interdenominational chapel are located on the first floor of the Davis-Fischer Building. Worship services are conducted every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and Wednesday

Social Services

Our social workers help patients and their families cope with the stresses of illness and hospitalization. They can help you with:

  • Arranging short-term or long-term care after you are discharged from the hospital
  • Locating community resources and financial assistance
  • Arranging counseling related to your illness

Regular hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. An on-call social worker is available on weekends and may be reached by contacting the hospital switchboard at (404) 686-1000.

Patient Relations

Your health, comfort and safety are our top priorities. If you have any questions or concerns about your care, or have a complaint that has not been handled to your satisfaction, please feel free to call on one of our patient representatives at (404) 686-1851.
