Become a Patient
Patients have two options for scheduling an initial consultation with an Emory thoracic surgeon:
1. Ask your primary care or other treating physician to make a referral.
2. For a second opinion, call the number listed at the location most convenient for you:
• Emory University Hospital (EUH)
• Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM)
• Athens Regional Medical Center
• Atlanta Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center
For second opinions, the following information will expedite the scheduling process:
- Treating physician's name, address and telephone number
- Patient's name, address and telephone number
- Patient's date of birth
- Patient's social security number
- Diagnosis and date of diagnosis
- Description of prior treatment, if any
- Insurance information
Initial Consultation
Your initial visit will include an evaluation based on current symptoms or conditions and compilation of a thorough medical history. Please bring all medical records related to your symptoms or diagnosis, including an electronic copy (disk) of your most recent chest X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans and positron-emission tomography (PET) scans, as well as any biopsy tissue slides. It is helpful for these items to be reviewed by the surgeon before the appointment, though not mandatory. If interested in this option, please call 404-778-3520.
