Cancer Support Services
The Quality of Life Program While the people of Emory Winship Cancer Institute work continuously to accelerate cancer research and provide expert medical care, we believe in taking a unified approach in treating mind, body and spirit in a holistic way.
Winship's Quality of Life Program is a unified effort to give patients and their friends and families everything we can to support their efforts to fight cancer. This includes:
Patient and Family Resource Center Located on the first floor of Winship, the Center offers a library, hospitality lounge and computers for patients and families to access the Internet.
Support Groups Patients, families, friends, and caregivers are all eligible to join Winship's monthly support groups, which are conveniently scheduled throughout the week.
Pastoral Services Pamela Butts, MDiv. serves as Winship's chaplain. She provides one-on-one counseling and gives emotional and spiritual support to patients, families, and staff.
Financial Services Winship's team of Oncology Resource Coordinators work with patients and families to help alleviate the financial anxiety that can sometimes occur with cancer treatment.
Patient Counseling The Institute has professional social workers on staff led by Jim Hankins, MSW, LCSW. The team of social workers facilitate support groups and provide individualized counseling to patients and families.
Nutrition Services Nutritional needs change during stages of treatment. Winship's staff nutritionist, Tiffany Barrett, MS, RD, LD, is a licensed dietician who is dedicated to creating and tailoring nutrition plans to meet a patient's specific needs.
