The application process begins Feb. 1st of each year and closes by April 1st

The Emory Voice Center of Emory University’s Department of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery provides the opportunity for one highly qualified graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program to complete a 12 month CFY position dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of people with voice and swallowing disorders. The Emory Voice Center is a multidisciplinary center staffed by specialists in Laryngology, Speech-Language Pathology, and the singing voice. The candidate will interact in multidisciplinary voice clinics and work in a state of the art voice laboratory under the mentorship of the Emory Voice Center staff. The candidate will be a member of a cutting edge Otolaryngology department and have the benefits of academic and research endeavors with Otolaryngology residents.

This clinical fellowship year offers experience and training in:

  • FEES and FEEST studies
  • Modified barium swallow studies
  • Advanced flexible and rigid endoscopic laryngeal imaging
  • Acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessment
  • Advanced voice and swallowing evaluation and therapy
  • Management of Botox Clinics and care of the patient with laryngeal dystonia

The CFY position will allow completion of the nine (9) month CFY with a three (3) month window to assist the candidate in completing and receiving credentialing/licensure paperwork. Start date is July 1st of each year and runs through June 30th of the following year. The candidate should have attended an accredited graduate program in speech-language pathology and have completed a master’s level course of study prior to beginning the position. The candidate must have solid experience in the evaluation and treatment of voice and swallowing disorders through graduate student work. The candidate must present a strong academic background and solid recommendations from their graduate training program and supervisors during their clinical practicum. Experience in working with the singing voice is a plus.

  2. Three (3) letters of recommendation including at least one letter from an externship supervisor
  3. An official transcript with documentation of graduation date or expected date of graduation
  4. A cover letter documenting their background and interest in voice and swallowing and their goals for a CFY experience
