Fadlo R. Khuri, MD
Aerodigestive cancer specialist Fadlo R. Khuri, MD, has helped lead a substantial increase in federal cancer funding at Emory and played an integral role in recruiting leading research and clinical faculty. Dr. Khuri, who specializes in the treatment of lung cancer and calls it “a modern day plague,” is the leader of the newly created Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology. A Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Scholar, Dr. Khuri is internationally recognized as a leader for his work in improving therapies for tobacco-related cancers. |

Ruth O'Regan, MD
A native of Dublin, Ireland, Ruth M. O’Regan, MD, the medical honoree at the 2006 Komen Atlanta Pink Tie Ball, is principal investigator in a statewide clinical trial for early-stage breast cancer patients. “Our vision is that patients throughout the state have access to the most innovative treatment opportunities regardless of where they live,” says Dr. O’Regan. |

Walter J. Curran, Jr., MD: An international expert in the management of patients with brain tumors and lung cancer, Dr. Curran remains an avid runner and an age-competitive middle distance racer. He has four children and has devoted personal time to several 19th century property renovations. |

Jonathan J. Beitler, MD, MBA, FACR
When Dr. Jonathan J. Beitler, is not soaring as an expert in the field of head and neck cancer radiation oncology, the only individual in the state with this focus, he’s a flight surgeon in the U.S. Army Reserves (Lt. Colonel) and a fixed wing IFR pilot. When he’s not in flight, he enjoys woodworking and basketball and says he’s “getting worse in basketball but keeps trying.” |

Peter J. Rossi, MD
Peter J. Rossi, MD, an expert in prostate cancer and gynecological malignancies, is married to Mila Rossi, who has a Masters degree in Public Administration and works for Care International. They have a daughter, Giada. He enjoys family hiking outings in the North Georgia and North Carolina mountains and alpine skiing. His hobbies are long distance running and biking and he competes in triathlons. Dr. Rossi chose academic medicine to be at the forefront of medicine and to be able to train future cancer physicians. |
